Application
Medical device industry requires cleaning medical equipment during manufacturing to ensure extrusion molded surfaces are cleaned of soils and any polymer particulate (flash, dust, etc). The parts can often be bundled which can pose a challenge for cleaning.
With the side mounted flushing feature, the system is able to clean the catheters in a combine bundle rather than separated individually. The automated wash-rinse-rinse-final rinse combine with the ability to process bundles of catheters contributed to a significant cycle time reduction for the customer. While ultrasonics typically work best for metallic based parts, in this application increased ultrasonic power density helps solutions move between parts to ensure uniform cleanliness.
Automated Guidewire / Catheter Cleaning System
The system utilizes moving the solutions from heated, filtered storage tanks to a central process chamber. This saves costs of automation, machine complexity and enables for minimal drag out between process steps via spray down nozzles in the lid.
In a different application, medical device guidewires can be cleaned and passivated using similar system configuration by adding a modular passivation acid tank.
