The following article was released from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) regarding an alert for nPB aka 1-Bromopropane (CAS #106-94-5), npropyl bromide or n-PB.
The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists proposes to lower the threshold limit valuetime-weighted average from 10 parts per million (ppm) to 0.1 ppm. If implemented, this change presents a risk to certain DoD industrial operations and may require actions to meet occupational health standards.
The EPA has restricted and phased out use of AK225 (HCFC 225) on January 1, 2015, we are now seeing further restrictions of other cleaning solvents like nPB. This gives even more evidence and reason for companies working with such solvents as nPB and HCFC225 to look at 3M Novec HFE engineered fluids as an alternative.
