How Electropolishing Works:

Electropolishing works in a manner opposite to electroplating. DC electrical current is sent through a cathode typically of non-corroding alloys which is placed in a bath of electrolyte polishing solution and the work piece(s) to be electropolished serve as the anode of the current path.   As current is applied, the electrolyte allows metal ions to be dissolved and removed.  Small burrs become very high current density surfaces and quickly dissolve.  This process removes surface flaws in parts and leaves the part with a high luster and precision surface finish.
